One of the things we as caregivers often overlook are boundaries. Name-calling, ignoring someone, being sarcastic all the time no matter the situation; these are the types of things that can undermine any and all efforts to ‘care’ for ourselves AND our veterans. Whether you are doing them or someone is doing this to you, setting healthy boundaries and sticking to them can help create a much healthier environment for everyone. Something else we need to do is seriously take care of ourselves. Bubble bath, journaling, read a book, dinner out with friends, online games, puzzles, whatever it is that makes you happy, that allows you to recharge your batteries or let your mind rest for a few minutes.
